"What is cloud computing?" |
| In simple terms the answer is computing over the internet. For example Google Mail is cloud computing. Outlook no longer provides your email client interface. It is available through Google's own online mail client. |
| Whilst email has been available in the cloud for a good while now, cloud computing is starting to take over in other areas. Google is leading the way by providing a number of new applications, and Microsoft has over the past year been extolling it's own credentials in this department, recently announcing it's intentions to launch the Office suite as a cloud computing option. |
| So the next question is 'what are the benefits?' |
| The two most obvious are: |
| 1) Cost, as a business you would no longer need to invest in large servers and have the added hassle of maintaining them. |
| 2) Clound computing enables you to access your resources from anywhere, providing your connected to the internet. |
